A 13 hour Samhain — Full immersion in the music and environment as we celebrate the energy of transformation with a 13 hour party on the holiday that best embodies that spirit, Samhain.  This is our fifth Samhain (pronounced “sow-in”) at Tangent, and at 2:00am time becomes a loop and we go back to 1:00am, gaining an extra hour for the party. 

For this Samhain, we have gone above and beyond, expanding the event to a weekend of full sonic immersion, and taking Samhain itself to the highest heights, for the climax of the night. The DJs here they just don’t quit… In the Ballroom this year we have Eris Drew & Octo Octa present Alchemical Sisters, their project that takes heavy inspiration from their love of big beat, celebrating the debut double album from Alchemical Sisters on IT being released for and available at Samhain - the season of transformation. More powerful pairings in the Ballroom include the raw class of Berlin-based Lakuti x Tama Sumo and the dynamic duo of Forcefield comprised of two of the Netherlands’ finest DJs - Afra and Serge (the founder of Clone Records). Detroit’s Tammy Lakkis will launch the room with her incredible style. 

The Dark Room focuses IT’s transcendental energy into a night of transformation via Interdimensional travel with a four hour opening set from Hodge x Erika, deeply immersive sets from IT founder BMG, Neel (from Voices From The Lake), NWB resident Mike Servito and an epic closing set from Samhain resident Mozhgan. 

Dimensions collide as we celebrate not only Samhain but this special conjunction of artists and philosophies which transcend time and space. We shall cleanse and renew, absorbing all the energy and space for the fleeting but deeply needed moments of freedom that we all deserve.

BMG on Samhain: "It's the Celtic holiday that Halloween spawns from. It was the loop point, the new year. Ancient people dealt with grey areas in strange ways, the change between years caused this loose period existing between the end and beginning. This is where it gets interesting: they believed dimensions were colliding in a sort of interdimensional crosstalk, where the planes of the living and the dead were touching, so the dead could walk the earth. A way to convene with your ancestors, and a great reason to burn fires and scare your friends and neighbors. There's way more to it, most of it can't be written, it can only be felt, which is usually elusive but somehow easy at this time of year."  

For the weekend of October 30 & 31st, IT takes over the Tangent with two extended parties — IT presents Beyond on Friday, October 30th — with a 12 hour party with one DJ – Daniel Bell and Samhain XXVI on Saturday, October 31st — a 13 hour Samhain in 2 rooms at the Tangent. 

Special weekend passes are available, allowing for quicker entry and reentry, and supporting the entire concept.
